We are looking for a young dynamic staff who love being with kids and enjoy being outdoors.  If you're a person who is responsible, enthusiastic and wants to gain experience working with children then Redwood is the place for you!

Do you want the summer camp experience?

Redwood Country Day Camp offers the best of both worlds - it feels like a sleep-away camp, but is close enough to go home every night.  Redwood is located on 27 privately owned acres of field and forest in Vaudreuil, neghbouring Hudson/Saint-Lazare.  Camp runs for eight weeks but 4 & 6 week positions are also available.  Being a staff member has many advantages - spending your summer outdoors, daily bus service to camp, staff activities and the opportunity to make lifelong friends.  Redwood is a great place, filled with great people.  There's something for everyone at Redwood.  From sports to arts to nature to swimming, we've got it covered!  The hours are great: camp starts at 9:30 A.M. and ends at 3: P.M.

Campers range in age from 4-13 years old.  The groups are co-ed for the nursery campers (ages 4-5) and divided into boys' and girls' groups from kindergarten to grade 7 (5-13 yrs).  There are also junior and senior CIT (counsellor in training) programs.  Groups are supervised by two counsellors and in younger groups, a senior CIT as well.  There's an average of 12 children per group, except in the younger groups, where the average is eight children.

Counsellors should be enthusiastic, patient, responsible and interested in gaining experience working with children.  A large variety of activities are offered at camp and require a specialist's supervision and guidance.  Specialists are there to teach one particular activity to the children.  Activities include: Soccer, Arts & Crafts, Horseback riding, Basketball, Baseball, Batting cages, Nature & Science, Pottery, Beading, Dance, Rock Climbing, Tennis, Driver's Ed (golf carts), Games Room, Floor Hockey.  Staff is also needed for the canteen and maintenance staff.  We hire over 20 swimstaff who guard and teach.

The words "boring" and "repetitive" don't exist in Redwood's vocabulary.  That's why we always have exciting activities planned.  This includes a theme day once a week.  Theme days at Redwood mean costumes, games, prizes and special activities.  We encourage children to dress up in costume and have a blast.  That goes for staff members too, so be ready to have some fun!  Here are some examples of our theme days: Carnival Day, Bus Decoration Day, Country Western Day, Woodstock Day and Colour War.

Redwood staff always has a great time, inside and outside of camp time!  The Staff Rec. Committee is always hard at work planning fun and exciting activities for staff members to do together.  There are staff activities outside of camp time, organized for the staff by the staff.  These optional activities include movie nights, staff baseball games, scavenger hunts, and staff BBQ's.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it?  If you love children and the outdoors, then Redwood is the place for you.  The work experience is great: all staff members go through a complete training in order to be ready for anything.  At Redwood, you'll never be bored - between all the activities available and various theme days, no two days are ever the same.  The staff at Redwood is young, friendly and energetic - in no time, you will have made many lifelong friends.
